A Puglian palazzo with a flair for the surreal
From the outside, this traditional palazzo tucked away on a side street seems right at home amongst its white stone neighbors. But within, it’s rife with out-of-the-box surprises. Original features and an idiosyncratic mix of art and design create a captivating experience of old versus new.
Painted patterned tiles, marble floors and vaulted ceilings are enhanced by surprising combinations with the faded surface of Patina, the spackled texture of Wallcrete and the extra-matt finish of Absolute.
Volumes, colours and eras are all thrown together in unexpected ways. The walls are decorated like paintings, in which Patina Living in peach pink KK 111 and green KK 51 are broken up by milky white ceilings. The mid-century furnishings, contrasted with the coloured skirting boards in Microresina, create a sophisticated atmosphere that borders on the Baroque.
Visitors enter the house from the basement, through a vaulted corridor decorated by hand with Patina Living in KK 8 slate grey. The material, with its naturally irregular grain, integrates perfectly with the historical details of the location.
